St Paul Apostle

April 2013 pilgrimage to the Holy Land

At the Fifth Station from Max and Andrea

Have arrived today in Jerusalem.
Earlier at Abu Gosh seeing the Holy City in the far distance our hearts were burning with joy and anticipation. "We are at your gates Jerusalem". Our hearts were singing " Come to Jerusalem rejoicing before Him, praise Him with loud hosannas, bow down adore Him"

After dinner though it was late Andrea and I
decided we must enter the old city today. Reg accompanied us. We walked to the old city which reminded us of the narrow streets of Karachi with the vendors closing shop and offering last chance bargains. So moved were we by the experience of walking the same streets Jesus walked, we lost track of time distance. All of a sudden we saw an almost inconspicuous sign. It was the place where Simon of Cyrene helped Jesus carry the cross. The three of us stood in the street and recited the Lord’s prayer and gave thanks. On our way back we spotted the 3rd & 4th stations. Though it was cold and blowing our hearts were warm and full of joy as we made our way back.
