I would be grateful if you could pass on this brief message to the Pilgrims who leave tomorrow for their much awaited experience in the Holy Land.
I am sure that it will be everything and more that you have been hoping for. Tim and Gerard have done a lot of work in preparation, and we know that Jerome is really looking forward to it.
In the very best sense, it will be a sacred experience and you will be touched not so much by the exact places or sites, but of the encounters they tell of.
You are going as pilgrims, not tourists and everything that happens will reveal something of the sacred, as life always does. Our own pilgrimage last year was as rich as it was because of the bonding of the group. Everyone avoided cliques and strived to be inclusive. That is a vital part of being a pilgrim…witnessing the sacred in and through others.
We at Holy Cross will remember each of you in our community prayer.
May you be safe and blessed by this experience together.
